The Westwood football program will have a new head coach for the 2025 season. It will be the first new head coach in 20 years.
As first reported by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Wood announced his retirement Thursday afternoon after a 20-year career with the Warriors.
He was an assistant coach at Westwood for the 2003 and 2024 seasons before taking over as head coach in 2005. He had a 90-119 record with the Warriors with multiple playoff appearances.
Westwood is the third opening in the Austin area this offseason. Giddings head coach Michael Adams resigned in November and Cedar Creek’s Justin Thomas resigned in December.
