Austin-area women’s basketball rankings: Hyde Park & San Marcos make debuts

There was little movement in this week’s women’s basketball rankings.  

Vista Ridge, Glenn and Manor New Tech kept the No. 1 spots in their respective classifications, while only two teams dropped from the rankings.  

Newcomers this week are Hyde Park (14-1) in the 4A & others poll, while San Marcos joins the Class 6A ranks. 

Here are the rankings and five key matchups for this week:  

Class 6A

Five games to watch 

Bastrop at Anderson, 8 p.m., Tuesday – A battle for first place in District 24-5A that will feature dynamic guard play.  

Cedar Park at Glenn, 7 p.m., Tuesday – A rematch of last year’s Class 5A Region IV final and a battle between two unbeaten teams in District 25-5A.  

Davenport at Wimberley, 6:30 p.m., Tuesday – A rivalry game with two of the top teams in DIstrict 26-4A.  

Granger at Thorndale, 6 p.m., Tuesday – Another game that features two district unbeatens. First place in District 27-2A is on the line.  

Cibolo Steele at San Marcos, 7 p.m., Friday – Both teams are chasing Converse Judson in District 29-6A, but the winner will build some momentum in the district title race.
