Vote for the Austin Sports Journal Football Player of the Week for Week 5

Each week through the regular season, the Austin Sports Journal will poll readers to select the Austin Area High School Player of the Week. Voting will begin Monday morning and end Tuesday at 12 p.m. The winner will be announced on Tuesday.

Nominations will be taken from coaches stats submissions and box scores available on MaxPreps. Coaches are encouraged to send in nominations on Sunday mornings each week to madams@austinsportsjournal.com. The deadline for nominations is noon, Sundays. Only nominations for coaches will be accepted.

This week’s nominees are:

  • Ty Blair, East View: The senior quarterback threw for 415 yards and 5 touchdowns, completing 20 of 31 pass attempts with one interception in the Patriots win over Glenn. He also had eight carries for 60 yards.
  • Logan Mitchell, Leander: The senior quarterback had a total 363 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Lions’ win over Georgetown. He rushed for 102 yards on 15 carries and ran in three touchdowns, while throwing for 261 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Clayton Cooper, La Grange: The senior quarterback tallied 308 total yards and four touchdowns in the Leopards win over Navasota. He rushed for 200 yards on 27 carries and scored three touchdowns, while throwing for 108 yards and one touchdown, completing 14 of 22 pass attempts without an interception.
  • Joshua Williams, McNeil: The senior athlete rushed for 242 yards on 33 carries and scored four touchdowns in the Knights win over Stony Point.
  • Adrian Wilson, Weiss: The senior wide receiver caught three passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns in the Wolves’ win over Hendrickson.
