Swetha Sathish & Sydney Givens finish in top to on individual leaderboard

It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
After the first round of the UIL Class 6A girls state golf tournament on Monday, the Vandegrift girls golf team found themselves three strokes behind San Antonio Reagan at the top of the leaderboard.
With Coppell and Southlake Carroll several strokes back, Tuesday’s final round was a head-to-head battle for the state championship.
And the Vipers put together the performance of a lifetime.
Led by Swetha Sathish and Sydney Givens, Vandegrift overtook Reagan by collectively scoring a final round 1-over par to win the school’s second straight 6A team championship.
Sathish won the individual championship with rounds of 70 and 68 for a two-day total 138 (-6), edging out teammate Givens by four strokes. Givens scored a 71 on both days to finish 2-under par.
Westlake’s Isabel Emanuels finished tied for third on the individual leaderboard with Humble Kingwood’s Bella Flores. Emanuels and Flores shot 1-under par. Emanuels scored 71 in the first round and a 72 in the second.
Westlake finished seventh on the team leaderboard with a team total of 617 (+41).
