GEORGETOWN – Colleyville Heritage (24-0-2) took a 2-0 lead midway through the first half and never looked back on its way to defeating Hendrickson in a Class 5A girls semifinal Thursday morning.
Ashlyn Bringedahi scored on an assist by Bonnie Miller at the 19-minute mark. Less than three minutes later, Addison Shimmick scored unassisted to put the Panthers ahead 2-0.
Hendrickson sophomore Kaylee McKinley cut Heritage’s lead to one goal when she found the back of the net on a pass from freshman Brea Lewis.
Shimmick scored her second goal of the match with 30 seconds left in the first half to send the Panthers into halftime with a two-goal advantage.
Heritage wasted little time to add some insurance to its lead as Allie Love scored in the first eight minutes of the second half to extend the Panthers lead to 4-1, which is where it would stay.
The Hawks (21-4-2) had just two shots on goal in the second half and couldn’t get through Heritage’s stingy defense.
