From staff reports
Girls soccer teams from the Greater Austin Metro Area continued their dominance in area playoff games on Friday.
Austin area girls soccer teams went 5-0 Friday night in second round playoff matches with Round Rock, Georgetown, Leander, Liberty Hill and Cedar Park advancing to the regional quarterfinals.
Fridayโs showing came on the heels of a 8-2 night on Thursday from the Austin area, including McCallumโs huge upset win over Magnolia. Westlake, Lake Travis, Anderson, Hendrickson, Rouse, Giddings and Wimberley also picked up area playoff wins.
Taylorโs girls play Needville on Saturday in a Class 3A-Region III area playoff.
The areaโs dominance in the second round sets the stage for some hyper-local regional quarterfinal matches, which guarantees five area teams will play in next weekendโs regional tournaments.
