Thrall’s historic season continues with trip to Class 2A state tournament

BUDA โ€“ย Dawsone Meiske picked up where he left off Friday night.

Thrall’s big man followed up his 24-point performance Friday by dropping 23 points on Saturday to help Tigers defeat Santa Maria 66-45 in the Class 2A-Region IV championship game at Johnson High School in Buda.

With the victory, Thrall (30-5) will advance to next weekend’s UIL boys basketball state tournament for the first time in school history.

The Tigers jumnped out to a 26-14 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 18 points at halftime.

Steven Walker and Brecken Proctor each scored 12 points, while Caron Ball added eight.

The schedule will for the state tournament will be announced Sunday morning.
