SAN ANTONIO – When the shots weren’t falling for Cedar Park on Friday, sophomore guard Ahnna Breiner provided the hot hand.

Breiner scored all eight of the Lady Wolves’ points in the first quarter, including a pair of three-pointers, to help keep pace early in a Class 5A-Region IV semifinal at Littleton Gym in San Antonio.

Her poise allowed the rest of her teammates to shake off early jitters and take over after trailing 9-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Breiner’s 12 points coming off the bench was a big reason the Lady Wolves was able to defeat Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial 49-35 and dance into Saturday’s final against a familiar foe – Glenn.

“It was all for the team,” she said. “I knew being the first person off the bench, I needed to step in to see if I could help get things rolling.”
