Girls player of the week
Jaida Rodea, Giddings, junior forward
Rodea scored three goals and had one assist in the Lady Buffaloes 7-0 win over La Grange on Friday. She followed it up with a pair of goals in Giddings’ 11-0 win over Manor New Tech on Tuesday.
Fab 5 performances
Peyton Navarro, Weiss, senior goalkeeper — The Lady Wolves’ goalkeeper recorded her seventh shutout in her last eight games in goal, including a 5-0 win over Harker Heights on Tuesday.
Sophie Martin, Westlake, sophomore goalkeeper – Martin shut out Lake Travis’ high powered offense to help the Chaps defeat their rival this past Friday. She had another shutout Tuesday against Del Valle.
Faith Zoch, Giddings, senior goalkeeper – Zoch extended her shutout streak to eight games last week as the Lady Buffaloes defeated La Grange 7-0 and Manor New Tech 11-0. Zoch hasn’t allowed a goal since Jan. 19.
AJ Carlson, Westlake, junior forward – Carlson scored a goal and had two assists in the Chaparrals 4-0 win over Lake Travis this past Friday.
Carson Glenn, Liberty Hill, senior forward – Glenn scored the Lady Pantehrs lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Cedar Park this past Tuesday, which put Liberty Hill right in the mix of the playoff chase.
Boys player of the week
J Mossholder, Vista Ridge, junior forward
Mossholder recorded a hat-trick in the Rangers 7-5 win over McNeil and scored another goal in the Rangers 3-0 win over Cedar Ridge this past Friday.

Luis Carlos Vargas, Northeast, sophomore forward – Vargas had three assists and scored a goal in Northeast’s 7-2 win over Travis.
Augustine Bitwoma, Northeast, junior forward – Scored a pair of goals in the Raiders’ 7-2 win over Travis on Wednesday.
Luis Martinez, Pflugerville, senior midfielder – Martinez scored two goals and had an assists in the Panthers win over Bastrop this past Friday.
Jake Ciccarello, Bowie, senior forward – Scored three goals in the Bulldogs win over Austin High on Tuesday and had an assist in the Bulldogs win over Dripping Springs this past Friday.
John Aquio, Weiss, senior forward – Scored two goals in the Wolves win over Harker Heights on Tuesday.
Call for nominations
Each week, for the remainder of the regular season, On the Sidelines Sports will select a Player of the Week for both boys and girls soccer. Coaches are encouraged to submit nominations by noon on Wednesdays each week by emailing the player’s name, position, class and any pertinent stats for the week to madams@onthesidelinessports.com.
