Wonder Kahozi scored a game-high 18 points on Monday as Westlake rolled to a 60-30 win over Manor in a Class 6A, Region IV bi-distirct playoff at St. Edward’s University in Austin.
The Chaparrals (27-7) came out firing from all corners and outscored the Mustangs 21-2 in the first quarter. Guard Donovan Lee scored seven of his 11 points in the first quarter, while Kahozi added seven of his own.
Westlake extended its lead to 25 points at halftime behind six second-quarter points from Gavin Paull. The senior guard finished with 16 points.
Manor (22-11) got a team-high 16 points from senior guard Ray Jackson III, who was held without a field goal in the first half.
Westlake moves on the to area round and will play the winner of Tuesday’s San Antonio Johnson-Schertz Clemens bi-district playoff.
Houston Yates 81, La Grange 52: The La Grange Leopards ran into a juggernaut on Monday in their Class 4A, Region III bi-district playoff. Houston Yates ended the Leopards season at the Merrell Center in Katy. Nathan Scott scored 14 points for La Grange.
The Leopards finish the season with a 25-10 overall record and were the District 22-4A champions.
