Teams to Watch

Westlake (40-5)

The Chaparrals was the Austin-areaโ€™s lone representative at last yearโ€™s state baseball tournament, falling to Pearland in the Class 6A semifinals. Westlake is considered the favorite in a very competitive District 26-6A.

Lake Travis (29-9-2)

The Cavaliers finished second last year and will compete with Westlake for the District 26-6A championship in 2024. San Antonio Johnson defeated Lake Travis in a three-game regional quarterfinal series last season.

Round Rock (31-8-1)

The Dragons are a perennial powerhouse and went 14-0 in District 25-6A last season en route to the district title. Expect Round Rock to continue that trend in 2024 as the Dragons look for redemption from a regional quarterfinal series loss to Westlake a year ago.

Rouse (23-12-1)

A young Rouse team made an improbable run to the Class 5A-Reigon IV finals in 2023 after finishing. The Raiders knocked off district champion Cedar Park in the regional quarterfinals with a 9-8 victory in a one-game playoff. The Raiders will be strong competitors in 2024 in a talented District 25-5A.

Taylor (31-5-1)

The Ducks were regional finalists a year ago, falling to China Spring in the Class 4A-Region III championship series after taking the first game. Taylor went 9-1 in District 22-4A and was the district champion. A more experienced team has its eyes set on the state tournament in June.
