Here are the On the Sidelines Sports Austin Metro Area Boys and Girls Basketball Players of the Week for the Week of Jan. 29-Feb. 2. Players are nominated by their coaches and chosen by On the Sidelines Sports Executive Director Michael Adams.

Girls Basketball Player of the Week

Sayler Bourland, Vista Ridge, junior guard

Bourland inched closer to a career milestone on Friday with a 22-point performance in Vista Ridge’s win over Stony Point on Tuesday. She also had eight steals and three assists. If she scores one point in Tuesday’s regular season finale at Manor, Bourland will reach 1,000 career points.

Wonder Kahozi, Westlake, senior center

Westlake’s big man put on a show on senior night, scoring a game-high 23 points in the Chaps win over Bowie on Friday to go with 12 rebounds.

Each week, for the remainder of the regular season, On the Sidelines Sports will select a Player of the Week for both boys and girls basketball. Coaches are strongly encouraged to submit nominations by Saturday evening each week by emailing the player’s name, position, class and any pertinent stats for the week to madams@onthesidelinessports.com.
