It’s the final full week of games for the 2023-24 Texas high school girls basketball season. Several postseason tickets will be handed out this week. Two teams to keep an eye on are the Stony Point Lady Tigers and the Rouse Lady Raiders.

Rouse faces a must win on Tuesday at Hays, but will also have to run the gauntlet and pick up wins over first-place Glenn and third-place Cedar Park, and hope Hays loses to Liberty Hill. A Rouse loss in any of its remaining three games will clinch a playoff spot for the Lady Hawks.

Stony Point is in a must win situation with games at home against Cedar Ridge on Tuesday in our On the Sidelines Sports Austin Metro Girls Basketball Game of the Week., and anther must-win on Friday in an away game at Vista Ridge.

Game of the Week

Cedar Ridge at Stony Point, 7 p.m., Tuesday

There’s arguably not a girls basketball game in the Greater Austin metro area Tuesday with as much on the line as Cedar Ridge and Stony Point. The Lady Tigers have played their way into the thick of the District 25-6A playoff picture, having won five straight.

If Stony Point wants to keep its playoff hopes alive, there’s little room for error. A loss to rival Cedar Ridge on Tuesday would put any postseason aspirations on life support and put a two-game cushion between the Lady Tigers and Round Rock with two games left to play.

Cedar Ridge won the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 5 by three points. The Lady Raiders have lost three of their last four, but they were close games. However, a win on Tuesday will stamp Cedar Ridge’s postseason ticket.

Georgetown at Hendrickson (7 p.m., Friday) – The District 23-5A championship will be on the line in this one. Hendrickson won the first meeting.

Westlake at Bowie (7 p.m., Friday) – The District 26-6A championship will be on the line. Both teams have playoff spots already wrapped up.

Vandegrift at Round Rock (7 p.m., Friday) – Round Rock is looking to rebound from Friday’s loss to Stony Point. The Lady Dragons can’t afford to lose; however, Vandegrift can clinch a playoff berth.

Rouse at Hays (7 p.m., Tuesday) –  Rouse is clinging to its playoff hopes and will need to run the gauntlet of three of the top four teams to reach the postseason. Hays can clinch with a win.

Cedar Park at Glenn (7 p.m., Tuesday) – The Timberwolves are in the role of spoiler and can cause chaos for the District 25-5A championship picture if they can beat Glenn for the second time this season.
