Two weeks remain in the Texas high school girls basketball season with just five games left to play.

There are a few teams that can punch their postseason ticket as early as this week. For instance, Westlake can clinch one of District 26-6Aโ€™s playoff spots as soon as Tuesday with a win over Anderson. Bowie also could wrap up a playoff berth this week with win or a Buda Johnson loss to Austin High.  The Maroons and Lake Travis will likely claim their postseason tickets Friday or next Tuesday.

Hutto is tied for third place in 12-6A with Harker Heights. However, both teams hold a three-game lead over fifth place Copperas Cove. The Hippos just need to win two of its remaining five games to punch its postseason ticket.

Not all district races are as clear as 26-6A or 12-6A.

Here are five district races to keep an eye on in the next couple of weeks.

District 25-6A

The skinny: The district championship will likely not be decided until the final regular season games on Feb. 6. Round Rock made a mess of things last week with wins over Cedar Ridge and Vista Ridge. The Lady Dragons could really stir things up in the district championship race with a win over Vandegrift on Feb. 2. While the championship picture is a little complicated, the playoff picture is a bit clearer.

Vandegrift, Vista Ridge and Cedar Ridge need to win two of the last five games and hope Round Rock beats Stony Point on Friday. The Lady Dragons can wrap up a playoff spot by beating Stony Point on Friday and winning two of the remaining four games.

The skinny: Hendrickson has already wrapped up a playoff berth. Georgetown will wrap one up with a win over Connally on Tuesday. Pflugerville needs to win one of its remaining five games or have Connally lose to Georgetown. Should the Cougars lose Tuesday, East View could wrap up a playoff spot with two wins in their next five games, which includes games against the bottom three teams in the standings โ€“ย Elgin, Cedar Creek and Bastrop. ย

The district title is likely going to come down to Hendrickson and Georgetown should both teams win their next three games. The Lady Hawks and Lady Eagles meet on Feb. 2 at Hendrickson.

The skinny: With five games to go, the playoff picture is quite clear. Liberty Hill and Glenn will both clinch playoff spots with wins on Tuesday against Leander and Hays, respectively. Hays needs to win one of its remaining five games and have Leander and Rouse to lose once. Cedar Parkโ€™s magic number is two.

The district title is likely going to come down to Liberty Hill-Glenn II on Feb. 6 at Glenn High School.

District 22-4A

La Grange16971
Giddings101653
Smithville121144
Caldwell81744
Manor New Tech9917
Austin Achieve21608

The skinny: Taylor and La Grange will likely determine the district championship when the two teams meet on Tuesday at La Grange. Both the Lady Ducks and Lady Leopards can wrap up playoff berths should they win two of their next three games. The winner of Tuesdayโ€™s game will just need to win on Friday.

The other two playoff spots will come down to Giddings, Smithville and Caldwell. The Lady Buffaloes and Lady Tigers will play Friday in a very pivotal game for the playoff race. A win would almost assure Giddings a playoff ticket and put Smithvilleโ€™s fate in the hands of Caldwell, which still has to play La Grange, Taylor and Giddings.

The skinny: Thrall pretty much controls its own destiny and will clinch a playoff berth with a win on Tuesday against Granger. Milano also needs one win in is remaining four games to clinch a playoff berth. Barring any upsets, Thrall and Milano will likely determine the district championship on Feb. 6 at Thrall.

The fun will be determining who will get the final two spots as Holland, Thorndale, Granger and Bartlett are all sitting tied for third place.

Thorndale has the easiest path and doesnโ€™t have to play Thrall or Milano in its remaining four games, unlike the other three teams. The Lady Dogs beat Holland, Hearne and Bartlett in the first round of district play, and lost to Granger by two.
