Here are On the Sidelines’ Sports top five high school boys basketball teams in Class 6A, Class 5A and Class 4A-below in the Greater Austin Metro Area.

Class 6A notes: Nothing changed in our top three this week despite Johnson’s loss to Lake Travis. However, Westlake and Weiss crack the rankings and replace Vandegrift and San Marcos… Despite a 10-11 overall record, Weiss is one of the hottest Class 6A teams in the Austin metro area. Winners of their last four games, the Wolves are currently tied for first place in District 12-6A with Harker Heights. The two teams play Tuesday night in Killeen. … Westlake ended the first round of District 26-6A play with a victory over Akins and is in third place behind Lake Travis and Johnson. …while not yet in the top 5, watch out for Dripping Springs. The Tigers have the longest winning streak among 6A teams in the area at 7 games are and a game back of Westlake in the standings.

The Cougars currently sit in tied with Hendrickson for second place in District 23-5A. …Staying in 23-5A, Georgetown retains the top spot in this week’s rankings and is tied with McCallum for the longest active winning streak in the Austin metro area at nine games. … The Knights are in first place in 24-5A and a game ahead of Austin LASA, which has won six straight.

The Leopards are in first place in 22-4A and close out the first round of district play on Friday at home against Smithville.
