Pair of local soccer tournaments to showcase some of the best in Texas

The Governor’s Cup Elite Showcase in Georgetown andโ€‚the Austin Lakes Elite Men’s Showcase hosted by Lake Travis, Dripping Springs and Westlake will highlight some of the best boys and girls soccer teams in the state of Texas this weekend.

Both tournaments kickoff today with a sleuth of games featuring local teams and state powerhouses.

Austin Lakes Elite Men’s Showcase

The Austin Lakes tournament kicks off at noon with Lake Travis taking on Houston McArthur at Cavalier Stadium at Lake Travis High School. Southlake Carroll and San Antonio Harlan get things started at Chaparral Stadium at Westlake, while games kick off at Tiger Stadium in Dripping Springs beginning at 2 p.m. with Fort Bend Ridge Point and Laredo Johnson. Local teams playing in the tournament include hosts Westlake, Dripping Springs and Lake Travis, along with Round Rock, and Vandegrift.

Georgetown Governor’s Cup Elite Showcase

The Governor’s Cup Elite Showcase, hosted by Georgetown ISD, will feature some of the state’s best girls and boys soccer teams this weekend. The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m. at Birkelbach Stadium at Georgetown High Shcool with a girls match between Denton Guyer and Round Rock. St. Stevens and El Paso Soccoro get things started for the boys tournament at 10:50 a.m., also at Birckelbach Stadium.โ€‚Find a full schedule of games here.

Local girls teams playing in the tournament include Westwood, Liberty Hill, Rouse, Georgetown, East View, Dripping Springs, and Vandegrift.

St. Stephens, Westwood, Cedar Park and LIberty Hill are local participants in the boys tournament.
