The University Interscholastic League released its cutoff numbers Friday for the upcoming biannual redistricting, scheduled for Feb. 1, 2024.
On Tuesday, the UIL released enrollment numbers turned in on Snapshot Day in October, which are used for the 2024-206A redistricting to to place schools into appropriate classifications. You can find the enrollment numbers for all 56 Austin-area schools here.
Based on what was released on Friday, Leander will be the biggest Class 5A school, falling five students under the 2,275 cutoff.
Weiss will drop from Class 6A back to Class 5A and 5A-I for football. The Wolves played in District 12-6A for the past two seasons.
The other big news is that several Austin ISD schools will drop classifications. Anderson (2,167) has an enrollment that will place the school in Class 5A and Class 5A-Division I in football. Northeast (1,226), Travis (1,197.5), Ann Richards (868), LBJ (773) and Eastside (694) will be dropping from Class 5A to 4A. In football, LBJ and Eastside all fall into Class 4A-Division II. Austin ISD has in the past opted up district schools to keep them in the same district.
Another school that appears to be on the move is Thrall, which turned in an enrollment of 274. That will move the Tigers from Class 2A to Class 3A for all sports and 3A-Division II for football.
Bastrop ISD school Cedar Creek will jump to Class 5A-Division I in football from Division II, which will end a longstanding district rivalry with fellow BISD school Bastrop since the Eagles began playing varsity football in 2012.
