2023 All-Austin Metro Volleyball: Class 6A, 5A & 4A-1A first and second teams

On the Sidelines Sports-Austinโ€™s Executive Director Michael Adams names his All-Austin Metro Volleyball first and second teams for Class 6A, 5A, and 4A-1A.  Each team consists of three outside hitters, a middle blocker, libero and setter.

Miss Austin Volleyball, individual awards, and all-district teams can be found at the bottom of this post. 

Class 6A Team

First team

Henley Anderson, Dripping Springs, sophomore outside hitter: The District 26-6A Most Valuable Hitter and first-team selection helped lead the Tigers to a 48-7 record and a trip to the Class 6A, Region IV finals. Anderson led the Austin metro 6A players with 717 kills and had a .286 hitting percentage. She also had 51 blocks and  395 digs. 

Avery Hamlin, Lake Travis, senior outside hitter: The first-team All-District 26-6A selection helped lead Lake Travis to the Class 6A, Region IV finals, the Cavsโ€™ fifth consecutive district championship and a 44-6 overall record. Hamlin had the 6th most kills in the Austin metro area among 6A players with 487. She also had 61 blocks, 495 digs and 55 service aces. 

Sara Randall, Weiss, senior outside hitter: The District 12-6A Hitter of the Year, and American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American honorable mention, was third in the Austin metro area among 6A players with 600 kills and had a .248 hitting percentage and  237 digs. She was a key player in helping the Wolves to a 28-9 record and a playoff berth. 

Ashley Euston, Dripping Springs, junior middle blocker: The District 26-6A Most Valuable Blocker and first-team selection led the Austin metro area 6A players in blocks with 140. She also finished with 224 kills and a .290 hitting percentage. 

Ella Kuhn, Dripping Springs, senior libero: A first-team All-District 26-6A selection, Kuhn was sixth in the Austin metro area among 6A players with 611 digs and second in service aces with 71. 

Kacey Kazmierski, Lake Travis, senior setter: District 26-6Aโ€™s Most Valuable Setter ranked 4th in the nation and first among 6A players in the Austin metro area with 1,545 assists. Kazmierski, the daughter of former Lake Travis head coach Jennifer (Kazmierski) Johnson, will play at the University of North Florida next year.

Second team

Julia Hopkins, Westwood, senior outside hitter: The District 25-6A Hitter of the Year helped lead Westwood to a 19-23 record overall and a 7-6 record in district play. Hopkins had the fourth-most kills among Austin area Class 6A players with 598. She also had 44 service aces. 

Alex Beauchamp, Vandegrift, senior outside hitter: District 25-6Aโ€™s co-Impact Player of the Year had the fifth most kills among Austin metro 6A players. She also finished with 410 digs and helped lead the Vipers to the playoffs and a 22-22 record. 

Morgan Houston, Round Rock, senior outside hitter: The District 25-6A Most Valuable Player helped lead the Dragons to the district championship and a 34-12 overall record. Houston had 370 kills and a .360 hitting percentage to go with 83 blocks and 46 serving aces. 

Amaya Horton, Stony Point, junior middle blocker: An All-District 26-6A honorable mention selection, Hornton was second in the Austin metro among 6A players with 136 total blocks and helped lead the Tigers to the playoffs and a 32-14 overall record. 

Merrick Hammel, Vista Ridge, junior libero: The District 25-6A Defensive Player of the Year, Hammel finished the season with 485 digs and 44 service aces. She helped lead the Rangers to the playoffs and a 29-17 overall record. 

Takyla Brown, Weiss, junior setter: The District 12-6A Most Valuable Player, a LSU pledge, ran the Wolvesโ€™ offense and helped Weiss reach the postseason. Brown had the second most assists among Class 6A players in the Austin metro area with 1,157. She also had 57 service aces and 380 digs.

Class 5A 

First team

Annie Witt, Liberty Hill, junior outside hitter: A first-team All-District 25-5A selection, the Angelo State commit helped lead the Panthers to the Class 5A finals and the district championship. She had 408 kills and 479 digs with a .196 hitting percentage. Witt was named to the UIL Class 5A All-Tournament team at the state tournament. 

Jadyn Wilgus, Rouse, senior outside hitter: A third-team AVCA All-American, the Arizona State signee was instrumental in the Raiders 40-14 overall record. Wilgus had the third-most kills in the Austin metro area for Class 1A to 5A with 495. Wilgus had a .435 hitting percentage.

Kealy Dirner, Liberty Hill, senior outside hitter: A first-team All-District 25-5A selection, Dirner was instrumental in the Panthersโ€™ playoff run to the Class 5A finals. Dirner finished with 464 kills and 59 service aces. She was named to the UIL Class 5A All-Tournament team at the state tournament. 

MacKenzie Bernard, Georgetown, junior middle blocker: District 23-5Aโ€™s Blocker of the Year helped the Eagles win a share of the district championship. Bernard ranked fourth among Austin-metro area players in Class 1A to 5A with 103 blocks. She also finished with 119 kills and a .306 hitting percentage. 

Regan Ramirez, Georgetown, junior libero: Ramierez was the District 23-5A co-Most Valuable Player and the Eagles reach the second round of the playoffs. She finished fourth among Class 1A to 5A players with 834 digs.

Morgan Warren, Hendrickson, senior, setter: The District 23-5A Setter of the Year helped lead the Hawks to a share of the district championship and reach the second round of the playoffs. Warren had the second most assists among Class 1A to 5A players in the Austin metro area with 1,146.

Second team

GiGi Mason, Liberty Hill, senior outside hitter: One of the key players for the Panthers in the regional finals where she had a team-high 15 kills in Liberty Hillโ€™s victory over district-rival Rouse. The Vanderbilt signee had 391 kills and a .234 hitting percentage to go with 104 blocks. 

Addison Gaido, Georgetown, junior outside hitter: Standing at 6-foot-4, District 23-5Aโ€™s offensive player of the year led the eagles with 427 kills and a .315 hitting percentage to go with 59 blocks.  

Jade Key, Rouse, junior outside hitter: A first-team All-District 25-5A selection, Key helped lead the Raiders to the regional finals and a share of the district championship. Key led all players in Class 1A to 5A from the Austin metro area in kills with 593. She also had 391 digs and 40 blocks. 

Luisa Langi, Hays, senior middle blocker: The Utah Tech signee, a second-team AVCA All-American, had 256 kills and was second in the Austin-metro area for Class 1A to 5A players in blocksย  with 110. She was a first-team All-District 25-5A selection.ย 

Callie Krueger, Cedar Park, junior libero: First team All-District 25-5A selection, Krueger helped lead the Timberwolves to the regional quarterfinals and a 30-17 record. She had the fourth most digs among all Class 1A to 5A players with 622.

Lexi Rosenblatt, McCallum, sophomore setter: The first-team All-District 24-5A selection helped the Knights reach the second round of the playoffs and win a district championship. Rosenblatt had the fourth most assists among area Class 1A to 5A players with 813.

Class 4A-1A 

First team

Melina Grissom, Thrall, senior outside hitter: District 26-2Aโ€™s Most Valuable player helped lead the Tigers to a 24-9 overall record and a district championship. She was instrumental in Thrall reaching the Class 2A-Region IV finals.  

Laney Hennessee, Wimberley, junior outside hitter: District 27-4Aโ€™s Offensive Player of the Year, the junior had the second-most kills among Austin metro area 1A to 5A players with 525. Hennessee helped lead the Texans to the Class 4A-Region IV finals and a 36-8 overall record. 

Hannah Wamble, Taylor, senior outside hitter: The District 22-4A Offensive Player of the Year helped the Ducks to their best season in school history. Taylor finished with a district championship, an all-time high 30 wins and reached the second round of the playoffs. Wamble finished with 403 kills and led all Austin area 1A to 5A players with 119 aces. 

Anna Claire Brown, Gateway, junior middle blocker: The District 24-4A co-Most Valuable player helped the Gators to a perfect 10-0 record in district play and reach the third round of the playoffs where they lost to the eventual regional champion Salado in five sets.

Brooke Everett, Lago Vista, senior, setter: A first-team All-District 24-4A selection, Everett helped the Vikings return to the playoffs. She had the third most assists among Class 1A to 5A players with 836. 

Rhagen Masur, Wimberley, junior libero: A first-team All-District 27-4A selection, Masur was part of a Texans team that reached the regional finals. She had the seventh most digs of Austin area players from Class 1A to 5A with 568.

Second team

Adelyn Watkins, Gateway, junior outside hitter: The District 24-4A Offensive Player of the Year helped the Gators go undefeated in district play and reach the third round of the playoffs. 

Jade Malone, Lago Vista, senior outside hitter: The District 24-4A co-Hitter of the Year helped lead the Vikings to the playoffs. She finished with 321 kills, 67 blocks, 345 digs and 53 service aces. 

Haley Harms, Taylor, junior outside hitter: A first-team All-District 22-4A selection, Harms was an instrumental part of the best season in Taylor volleyball history. She finished with 337 kills and was the second-leading hitter on the Ducks.

Brynn Leschber, Thrall, sophomore middle blocker: The first-team All-District 26-2A selection helped the Tigers win a district championship and reach the regional finals. 

Jesse Weeks, Wimberley, senior setter: The first-team All-District 27-4A selection ran the Texans offense and helped the team reach the regional finals. Weeks had the fifth-most kills among Austin metro area setters in Classes 1A to 5A with 803. 

Dezirae Lopez, Thrall, senior libero: The District 26-2A co-Defensive Most Valuable Player helped the Tigers win a district championship and reach the regional finals.
