Roundup: Five teams pick up wins to move on to regional semifinals

CEDAR PARK โ€“ Jade Key put down 15 kills to go with 3 blocks and 17 digs, to lead Rouse (39-13) in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21) victory over Cedar Park Tuesday at Vista Ridge High School in a Class 5A, Region IV quarterfinal, ending the Timberwolves incredible postseason run. 

Senior Savannah Skopal had a team-high 4 blocks and 44 assists, while senior Cameron Bradley had 16 digs and Naara Tanco had 12. 

Rouse advances to the regional semifinals where the Raiders will face McAllen Memorial at the Northside Gymnasium in San Antonio. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. Should Rouse be victorious, the Raiders will play the winner of Liberty Hill and Corpus Christi Flour Bluff in the finals on Saturday at 12 p.m. 

Wimberley def. Bellville: At Yoakum High School in Yoakum, Laney Hennessee put down 17 kills to lead Wimberley (35-7) past Bellville 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23) in a Class 4A, Region IV quarterfinal. 

Addison Parks added 3 blocks and 2 service aces, while Skylar Herring put up 20 assists and Rhagen Masur had 16 digs to lead the Texans. 

Wimberley advances to the regional semifinals where the Texans will face Floresville at Littleton Gym in San Antonio on Friday at 7 p.m. Should Wimberley win, the Texans will take on the winner of Comal Davenport-Corpus Christi Calallan in Saturdayโ€™s final scheduled for 12 p.m. 

Lake Travis def. San Antonio Reagan: At Johnson High School in Buda, Lake Travis (44-5) held off a feisty Regan team to pick up a 3-1 (28-26, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20) win over the Rattlers in a Class 6A, Region IV quarterfinal. 

The Cavaliers advance to this weekendโ€™s regional semifinals at the Alamo Convocation Center in San Antonio where they will take on San Antonio Harlan. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. Should Lake Travis win, the Cavs will face the winner of Dripping Springs-San Antonio Oโ€™Connor in Saturdayโ€™s final scheduled for 12 p.m. 

Liberty Hill def. New Braunfels Canyon: At Bowie High School in Austin, the Liberty Hill Panthers survived a five-set thriller to defeat New Braunfels Canyon 3-2 (25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 17-25, 15-7) in a Class 5A, Region IV semifinal. 


The Panthers (44-8) advance to this weekendโ€™s regional semifinals at Northside Gym in San Antonio where they will face Corpus Christi Flour Bluff. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. Should Liberty Hill win, the Panthers will take on the winner of Rouse-McAllen Memorial in Saturdayโ€™s regional final at 12 p.m. 

Thrall def. Weimar: At Rockdale High School in Rockdale, the Thrall Tigers (24-8) made quick work of Weimar with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-21) victory in a Class 2A, Region IV quarterfinal. 

The Tigers move on to this weekendโ€™s regional semifinals at Brenham High School in Brenham where they will face Johnson City. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. Should Thrall win, the Tigers will face the winner of Schulenburg-Stockdale in Saturdayโ€™s regional final at 1 p.m. 

College Station def. Hendrickson: At Giddings High School, Hendricksonโ€™s Kara Wynn put down 18 kills, but College Station came back down 2-0 to defeat the Hawks 3-2 (20-25, 15-25, 25-11, 25-19, 15-13) in a Class 5A, Region III quarterfinal. 

The Hawks (33-8) offense also got 7 kills from Kamea Uitenham and 5 from Cassie Rivera. Senior Jordan Flores had 34 digs in the loss.
