Week 6 of the high school football season is in the books, which means it’s time for the latest On the Sidelines rankings heading into the 7th week of the season.
There are three new teams in the rankins, two of which are brand new and haven’t been ranked this season.
There were some upsets last week. Vista Ridge (4-1) lost its first game of the season to unranked McNeil (3-2) on Thursday, 7-6. It was the Rangers first loss of the season, but dropped them four spots to No. 8 in this week’s ranking.
Weiss (6-0) squeaked out a close game to Temple, 28-26. The Wolves moved up to the No. 3 spot behind No. 1 Westlake (5-0) and No. 2 Vandegrift (5-0). Lake Travis (4-1), who was on a bye in Week 6, moves up to No. 4. Rounding out the top 5 is Dripping Springs (4-1), which blew out Johnson 62-13.
Wimberley (5-0) had a bye and stayed at No. 6, while Georgetown (3-2) makes its debut in the rankings this week. The Eagles looked impressive in a 44-14 win over Hendrickson on Friday.

Westwood (4-1) returns to the rankings after the Warriors 41-0 shutout of Cedar Ridge. Westwood is for real. And closing out the top 10 is Rouse (4-1), which is making its debut in the rankings. The Raiders defeated Connally last week and hosts unbeaten Belton on Friday at A.C. Bible Stadium.
As always, teams are ranked regardless of classification and picked by On the Sidelines Sports Executive Director Michael Adams.

Dropped out: Manor (3-2), Cedar Park (3-2), Hendrickson (3-2)
Notable: Round Rock (2-3) have won two straight after starting the season 0-3. The Dragons defeated Stony Point 28-0 in Week 6 and take on a bruised Manor team that got humbled by Vandegrift last week, 51-6… No offense to McNeil, but Bastrop (4-2) may have had the upset of the season last week, defeating previously unbeaten Kerrville Tivy, 41-22… Speaking of McNeil (3-2), the Mavericks are going to be a disruptive team in District 25-6A. For three straight weeks, McNeil has held a halftime lead against an opponent. They are young, but scrappy… Keep an eye on Travis (4-1) in District 12-5A-II. The Rebels have won four straight and are currently in first place.
Stock is rising: Thrall (5-1), Travis (4-1), Round Rock (2-3), Bastrop (4-2)
Stock is falling: Elgin (3-3), Hendrickson (3-2), Cedar Park (3-2)
